As of October 7th, hundreds of thousands of soldiers, policemen and members of the security and rescue forces are in continuous combat in the various sectors, in an emergency mode with extreme experiences of threat, loss, trauma, burnout, changes and uncertainty.
Trauma affects not only those who are directly exposed to it but also those around them. People who return home from duty, experience sharp transitions that increase feelings of disconnection, loneliness, emotional absence, emptiness, various struggles and expressions of distress.
Returning home brings difficult challenges of loss of meaning, lack of adequate response to trauma, difficulty returning to function in “normal” life when the war is still ongoing and there is an uncertainty about returning to normalcy.
In the current war, due to its unique characteristics, it is understood by all that the terms “the end of the war” or “the day after” are abstract and unclear, and therefore an integrated and adapted response must be given to the entire population on the front lines.
